Colab is a multidisciplinary design studio founded by old friends Luke James and Mike Lythgoe. We first met at art college before heading off into separate careers across art, illustration, graphic design, branding and big agencies. More than 25 years of experience later, the time felt right to bring what we’d learned together and start something of our own.

We take time to get to know the people behind a brand — how they think, what matters to them and what makes their business different. Often, it’s the small things that reveal the most: a detail, an idea or something that’s been there all along but hasn’t quite been recognised. We look for those things and use them to get to the heart of what a brand is really about.

Our approach is personal and straightforward. We listen properly, ask questions and keep things clear, without hiding behind industry jargon or making things more complicated than they need to be. Every project is different, but the aim is always the same: to make work that feels right for the people behind it and that we’re all proud to share.
